I've been a client of Kathy's for 24 years and have never had a negative experience in her salon or under her very experienced care. Salon is nice and staff is friendly. I have recommended many friends to Kathy and they still go to Kathy. My daughter goes to Kathy and has been to her since her first haircut 22 years ago. If someone walks out unhappy, I'm sure they didn't know what they wanted, had unrealistic expectations and has had a string of "bad hairdressers" prior. Salon Nouveau is awesome so much so that I drive to Orange Park from the Southside. Usually when hairdressers are running behind, it's due to a client or several clients who change their mind and the appointment times booked are no longer valid or they are late. Many times, clients have an emergency with their hair they the stylist is gracious enough to work them in. Kathy and team, keep up the good work. All too often, people only log on to these things to be bitter. I'm logging to praise. Whoever wrote the previous bad reviews is probably the same woman.

Great Salon to work in:)

As a stylist of over 12 years, I have worked at Salon Nouveau for 9 of them. The previous reviews of our Salon are appauling, Kathy Floyd is not a "bogus" hair stylist, in fact she used to teach hair color and has taught me alot of what I know today. I watch her day in and day out please her clients and alot of those clients have been going to her for over 20 years. The previous client obviously has nothing better to do with her time than pick others apart, if you have a problem with the way you're hair looked, Kathy would have been more than willing to try and fix it for you, but you never even made the attempt, instead you came in and picked everyone in the salon apart, opinions are everyone's right, but being rude and just down right mean are not so much appreciated. I believe everyone at Salon Nouveau does a wonderful job and we have plenty of happy satisfied customers. Our work environment is always clean and Kathy and Shirley make sure of it. As for the "needs remodeling" comment, Kathy actually remodels about every 2 years and I think she does a wonderful job at it, so if you are looking for a nice place to get you're hair done Salon Nouveau is the place for you and all of our stylist are more than capable of giving you the look you want, we pride ourselves on communicating with all of our clients, and making sure you have the best experience that we can provide.

BEWARE!

If I could rate it a zero I would. Kathy, the owner, butchered my hair, and her claim to be a "master colorist" seems bogus. I almost left when I saw the horrible color jobs that most of her stylists had on their own heads, but I decided to see what a master colorist could do to my hair. All she did was throw a base color on my hair, throw on some bleach and then have an assistant put a toner on my hair for a few minutes. By the time I got home I saw how yellow (UGH) rather than blonde my highlights were, and how the bleach had seeped into the base color (brown) leaving me with red roots. I honestly believe a student could have done a better job. My guess is she is not a master colorist, but a master at padding her resume. Also, in response to the previous review, someone came in during my appointment whose appointment was also not placed in the book, so Kathy had to fit her in. I felt rushed, and I know my hair looked like it had been done by someone who was rushed.

OK Salon, Poor Customer Service

I am not into salons that do not honor appointment times and shift their clients around from person. If you can picture a person sitting on a conveyor belt in a factory going from one person to the next that is the experience you will get with Kathy (the owner). I saw Kathy who is a good colorist, but always overbooks herself which causes you to be pushed off to one of her assistants. If you are paying that person good money to do your hair and a 20% tip the stylist can at least make the time for you. Also on a couple of occasions I made appointments and the receptionist (who is a relative) gave me the appointment card, but forgot to book the appointment. When I called to confirm of course I was not in the appointment book and they said Kathy could "fit me in at a different time"??? Sorry, when booking a month in advance, she should be moving the other person and honoring my appointment but obviously she didn't care too much. A lot of the other ladies there are nice, but I do not recommend Kathy. Helpful tip: Clients know when all you see is $$$ constantly overbooking. When a woman goes into get her hair done, she doesn't expect to be shuffled around to several ladies so you can get everyone in giving them less of your time while you make a couple of extra hundred dollars. Show some class and respect for your clients. How would you feel being treated like that? Oh yeah, little notes on the mirror suggesting clients should buy their hair products from you instead of a place they can get them cheaper can make your clients feel pretty uncomfortable too. As a shopper most people including you would probably look for the better price. Paying for the service and a nice tip should be enough. TOO GREEDY!!!
